About

Marie Meyer is a filmmaker and photographer currently living and working in Paris France. She works primarily in music, dance, fashion and behind the scenes

Meyer’s work is focused on fostering an environment where the model feels comfortable and confident in their energy, as she believes that the best results come from watching and highlighting the beauty of her subjects, rather than pursuing technical demonstration.

At age 17 Marie began her career as a fashion model and the years to come, traveling between New York, London, Milan and Paris became the foundation of her work as a photographer and director today.

Working with masters like Peter Lindbergh, Vanina Sorrenti, Greg Williams, Jake Nava, inspired Marie to get behind the camera herself and as she was already backstage at the shows of Jean Paul Gaultier, Margiela, YSL , Marie took advantage of her surroundings and began to take backstage photos and films of her fellow models.

Marie simultaneously became interested in psychology, studying at the University of Reims, and her early works are reflective of this passion; intimate portraits that aimed to reveal the truth behind the subject as well as leading them into a cathartic experience.

In 2020 Meyer produced and directed Fibonacci Made Me Hardcore, a 22 minute short experimental dance film. It premiered at 3537 in Paris and went on to come runner up at the Cannes World Film Festival for Best Dance Film as well as being part of the official selection for AVIFF Cannes Art Film Festival, Hallucinea Film Festival, Festival Ecra , Stockholm City Film Festival and Semi Finalist of Film Arte.

Meyer’s work is also deeply connected with music. Rhythm and movement are the driving forces of her films and create the pacing that has become so identifiable with her body of work.

Her latest film « The Making of Road to Freedom », highlights the process of creation of Lenny Kravitz‘s track for the film Rustin, directed by George Wolf, out on Netflix and theatres on November 2023. She’s also shot several other projects for Lenny including the making of the music video TK 421 directed by Tanu Muino as well as social media content.

Marie has also worked on a number of fashion films, including a campaign for Tommy Jeans x Sarenza, a film for Vincent Pressiat’s induction into the federation de la mode, a series of films for Borderlines Magazine, work with Luka Booth and Vogue Arabia as well as making music videos for various artists including Jack Powers, Underground New Wave Pop Singer from New York City.

Marie Meyer’s work is an ode to freedom.

Through fashion, dance, music and movement she’s explores her vision, embracing the beautiful accidents and finding harmony.
